About the Event

The transgender and gender diverse community, their treatment providers and their supports have been targeted as the the object of anger, hate, and moral posturing across numerous media sources. There is danger inherent in this lack of information or misinformation.

In this presentation, Dr Gibson will address how transphobic messages in the media can influence the public. The concepts of implicit biases and internalized transphobia will also be addressed. Further, Dr. Gibson will provide recommendations for self- managing transphobic messaging from the media and society.

The presentation will be followed by time for a Q&A.

This event is at the East End Campus of Assiniboine Community College in Lecture Theatre Room #180. Signs and volunteers can help assist if you are not familiar with the campus!

Thank you to ACC and Dr. Anastasia Jane Gibson for offering this venue and creating this presentation for our Pride Week!
